A shelter staff member writes: Yogi was surrendered because the owner is moving and no dogs permitted. Upon intake, he greeted entire staff and is very friendly! As per the owner, Yogi has a heart murmur but has not been on any type of medication. He does not bother with other dogs and affectionate towards children.
Basic Information
Yogi is an 8yr old male pit bull that may have a minor heart issue according to the owner.
Social Life & Personality
Yogi gets along with children very well and plays very with them. Yogi is fearful of other dogs and will make no attempt to interact with one. The owner isn't sure how he will do in the presence of a cat due to never having one around. Yogi is an indoor only dog that is house broken. Yogi is described to be playful, friendly, and affectionate with a low activity level.
Behavior Issues
Yogi doesn't have any guarding issues what so ever and this applies to food, treats, and toys. As far as any grooming agents he is fearful of bath but will allow everything else. Things like having his coat brushed or even a nail trim is ok.
For a New Family to Know
Yogi knows a few basic commands such as sit, down and give paw. He went for slow walks on a leash and this was done once a day. Yogi has no interest in any form of dog toys. When in the home Yogi is the type to follow you around seeking attention. When left alone in the home he is well behaved and this applies to him being left in the yard as well. Yogi was brought up eating both wet/dry food and the brand the owner gave was Purina Dog Chow.
